Studio by Tishman Speyer

Introduction

Studio by Tishman, a multifunctional event and workspace, sought to elevate its audio experience to match its premium branding and customer experience. The objective was to update the background music system, ensuring high-quality, uniform sound distribution across all areas. AV Planners was engaged to design and install an integrated audio solution capable of delivering on Studio by Tishman Speyer's expectations. They chose the Q-SYS audio, video, and control (AV&C) ecosystem for its flexibility, scalability, and quality.

Challenge

Studio by Tishman’s existing sound system was not delivering the required audio quality and coverage. They required a system that could provide crystal clear sound at varying volumes and across different zones within the facility. The new system needed to be both user-friendly and sophisticated enough to offer different audio environments according to the activities taking place within the space.

Solution

AV Planners proposed a comprehensive solution utilizing the QSYS Core, CX-Q amplifier, and carefully selected QSC pendant speakers.

System Components:

• QSYS 8 Channel Amplifier (CX-Q 4K8): At the heart of the new sound system, the CX-Q 4K8 provides ample power for the entire space with advanced features.
• QSYS AD-P.Halo Pendant Speakers: The combination of angled 2.75" speakers with a 6.5" subwoofer in one enclosure provided for an exceptionally seamless listening experience with zero hot spots.

Installation Process:

AV Planners began with an in-depth acoustic analysis of the Studio by Tishman's space to determine optimal speaker placement for uniform sound coverage.  They then installed the QSYS Halo speakers in acoustically calculated locations.  The control zones were carefully planned to allow for different audio levels in each of the eight zones.  This would allow louder events to happen without disturbing tenants in other parts of the office.

The QSYS Ecosystem offers extreme control of the music to supply each speaker with the correct amount of power and was programmed with custom EQ settings for different zones. This allowed for the flexibility to change the audio environment based on the specific needs of each area.

Results

The installation of the QSC sound system by AV Planners significantly improved the audio quality throughout Studio by Tishman Speyer. The staff reported that the system was intuitive to use, which enabled them to easily adjust settings as needed for different events through a custom-designed iPad or iPhone interface.
